These inoculated culture media are incubated overnight and the growth of bacteria is evaluated by experienced and specially trained staff. Bacterial colonies can be preliminarily identified based on their colony morphology, color, swarming and hemolysis behavior. The method enables automated primary reading and can significantly reduce the burden on laboratory operations, as trained staff can concentrate on the conventional assessment of pre-selected samples.
